WHEN Haimi Edzwan Hashim, 32, and Mazlan Paiman, 39, decided to leave their jobs at an established oil and gas company to start a startup, it was like scrapping everything they knew and being schooled all over again.

The co-founders of WRZiT, a mobile app that crowd-sources public bus arrival times, didn’t even know where to begin.
