Firms urged to invest in R&D to create innovative products

Srirangam says the Altair Technology Conference on Mechatronics will demonstrate how advanced simulation technology can push product design limits for the E&E sector.

TO CREATE high value capabilities and tap into the global market, electrical and electronics (E&E) product companies in Malaysia must place an even greater emphasis on product design and development. This is the advice from Altair Engineering Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of US-based simulation technology and engineering services company, Altair Inc.

“In line with the government’s call for high-end manufacturing, we are seeing more local E&E players migrating from low-value assembly operations to high-value product design and engineering activities,” observed Altair managing director for Asean, Srirangam Srirangarajan.
