Runners eager to improve their running skill in preparation for the IJM Land Half Marathon 2017 were up at the crack of dawn to be at a running clinic.
The running clinic organised by IJM Land was held at Dataran Centrio in Seremban 2 to help runners prepare for the annual run.
Free of charge for all registered runners, the running clinic gave them the opportunity to learn the rules and regulations of a half marathon as well as familiarise themselves with the do’s and don’ts when participating in a marathon.
Runners who were unfamiliar with the routes, especially in the 21km race, were also briefed in detail during the clinic.
IJM Land Bhd central region senior general manager Datuk Hoo Kim See said the clinic not only enhanced the participants’ running skills, it would also keep them safe if unforeseen incidents were to take place during the run.
“This annual sporting event has received tremendous response and a loyal following among Malaysians, and it has become one of the must-attend events that running enthusiasts look forward to every year,” said Hoo.
“As such, we want them to enjoy themselves and indulge in the wonderful independence that they’ve found in running and, at the same time, to learn running a marathon the safe and healthy way.”
All registered runners attending the clinic took part in the a warm up session, a talk, and a dynamic stretching session by a running coach who educated them on the importance of warming up and stretching before running long distances.
The participants also tested themselves at the running clinic with two short runs.
Hoo said the clinic was one of the activities IJM Land is most eager to organise for the community as it draws a strong interest from those in the running community and public as the company endeavours to bring everyone who share the same interest together over a similar passion.
“The community of Seremban 2 has always been very supportive over the years and in appreciation of their support to us, we want to return the support and establish a relationship with the community in venturing a lifelong journey together and doing something that gives them passion,” added Hoo.
