PENANG won three out of the five titles at stake during the second leg of the Youth Cup Milo Ranking Masters Bowling championship at Mega Bowl on the Penang mainland.

Muhammad Shafiy Zaim, 17, set the ball rolling when he struck down 1,731 pins to win the Boys Open title.

His junior Megat Zaqrul Haiqal, was also in top form to win the Boys Under-16 title with a score of 1,741 pins.

The mixed Under-12 category saw the host producing a top three finish.

Nyak Ahmad Lukman, Eileen Ong and Muhammad Hafiz Darwisy rolled down 1,022 pins, 996 pins and 973 pins respectively to cap a memorable outing for the host.

Penang could have secured a fourth title if their top bowlers Nur Amirah Auni Azman and Anis Shazlin Zulkhisham were around for the Girls Open category.

The duo were away for training with the national youth team in Kuala Lumpur.

In their absence, Kedah’s new sensation Puteri Nurul Dini, 18, scorched the lanes with 1,498 pins to win the title.

Puteri Nuri, who had earlier won the opening leg in February, beat her teammate Kusselyn Yuthasax by 46 pins.

Kedah also took the third and fourth spots through Nurul Aliya Najiha and Ummi Umaimah Abdullah, who rolled down 1,386 pins and 1,328 pins respectively.
