This year’s Prudential Astro Masters got off to a scorching start, literally, when Mohamad Azmi Mahmud and Kalai Kumar Ramasamy qualified for the Pattaya grand final at the opening leg at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort last week.
With the current hot, dry spell and good conditioning work by Eddie, the greenskeeper, Tropicana’s undulating greens on the East Course read 11 feet on the Stimpmeter before tee-off and by mid-morning, the greens were rolling beyond the 11.5ft range.
