Direct-selling company QNET has appointed Martina Hingis, a former world No 1 women singles player, as their new brand ambassador.
Hingis, who won the mixed doubles and women’s doubles titles in the US Open, was introduced to thousands of jubilant QNET members at the annual V-Convention UAE held at the Hamdan Sports Complex in Dubai recently.
In the US Open, Hingis partnered India’s Leander Paes and won the mixed doubles event after overcoming United States’ Bethanie Mattek-Sands-Sam Austin Querrey 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 in the final.
In the women’s doubles Hingis joined hands with India’s Sania Mirza and defeated Casey Dellacqua-Yaroslava Shvedova 6-3, 6-3 to make it a memorable outing.
The 35-year-old Hingis, who also won mixed and women’s doubles title at Wimbledon this year, will be representing the QNET brand in India. She will be participating in certain sporting activities, during the time she will be playing for Champions Tennis League later this year in India.
QNET managing director J. R. Mayer said they were glad to have Hingis as their brand ambassador.
“QNET stands for its commitment towards the highest quality products to its customers and firmly believes in innovation, excellence and consistent quality.
“We are glad to be associated with Martina, who epitomises quality and depth of work, thus personifying the brand. We are proud and privileged to have such a globally admired and respected personality as our brand ambassador,’’ said Mayer.
As the brand ambassador, Hingis, who spent 209 weeks at the top of the WTA world rankings, will play a leading role in enhancing the brand’s value.
She will wear the company’s logo on her attire during all her tennis tournaments as well as endorsing various products marketed by the brand.
Hingis said it was a great honour to be associated with a global brand like QNET whose presence in more than 100 countries speaks volumes of its strength and popularity.
“I am very excited to be a partner in this journey. I always believed in winning and becoming a champion. Without that inspiration, you can’t come out and play and compete at a higher level. I always felt like I had one of the best volleys in the world, one of the best backhands in the world, so you got to believe in something if you want to win,” she said.
With Hingis in the brand’s colours, the company is confident it will be an inspiration for the younger generation globally as she is considered one of the icons of world tennis and the sports world in general.
