Chingay parade draws the crowd

The Chingay flag paraded during the procession along Jalan Wong Ah Fook in Johor Baru.

JOHOR BARU: Chants of heng ah! (prosperity) and huat ah! (good fortune) filled the air along Jalan Wong Ah Fook here as hundreds of thousands of people gathered for the annual Chingay festival held since 1870 to mark the end of the Chinese New Year celebrations for Johoreans.

Dragon and lion dances, colourful floats and traditional dances were among the highlights at the event.
