'Cricket association must honour agreement and return Kinrara ground'

According to PKB, the Malaysian Cricket Association knew Kinrara Oval was a temporary home for its sporting activities.

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The site that houses the Kinrara Oval cricket ground must be returned to Perumahan Kinrara Bhd (PKB) after the lease to the Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) expires on Oct 31 this year.

According to a statement by PKB, a joint venture company between I&P Group, Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT) and Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), the land had always been earmarked for development.

PKB said that when the land was leased to MCA in 2004 for a period running till Oct 31, 2018, MCA had been made aware that their use of the land was temporary.

It added that the cricket association knew they would eventually need to find another home for their operations.

“PKB is merely requesting the return of the land upon expiry of the lease, and MCA has been given ample notice of this intent as the developer wishes to start the development on the land.

“MCA has also run up a sizeable sum owed to PKB to-date”, said the statement.

The matter is currently being moderated by the National Sports Council of Malaysia.

However, PKB is requesting that MCA honours the terms in the leasing agreement and return the usage of the land to the rightful owner upon its expiry. — Bernama
