End of the road for FT awards?

FOR the first time since 2008, the Government has decided not to confer honours titles in conjunction with the Federal Territories Day celebration on Feb 1 next year.

Sources confirmed that the Darjah Kebesaran Bintang dan Pingat Wilayah Persekutuan (DKBPWP) investiture ceremony will not be carried out.

In fact, the month-long celebration will be held on a small scale as the ministry plans to slash the budget for the occasion.

This year, the celebration had been budgeted at RM3.37mil, the lowest in five years.

In 2016, it was RM3.8mil compared to RM4.1mil in 2015 and RM5.3mil in 2014.
