KUCHING: Japanese timber importers, who have been hard hit by Sabah’s log export ban, are busy looking for substitute sources.

Logs from Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Africa, veneer and flitch from Russia and South-East Asia are among the candidates, according to International Tropical Timber Organisations (ITTO) in its latest issue of the tropical timber market report (July 1-15).
