BARISAN Nasional’s candidate for the Kota Kemuning state seat, Jordan Tiew Hock Huat, wants to improve quality of life for the people, and the issue on top of his to-do list is the traffic problem.
According to the Klang Gerakan Youth chief, 10 out of 10 people he had spoken to had singled out traffic congestion as a serious issue in the area.
He said the traffic problem had gone from bad to worse over the past 10 years, and this showed that the Pakatan Rakyat government had failed to deliver.
“It is happening all over all over the place, and the situation at the three roundabouts are unbearable.
“I have already indentified the problem. I also have short-term and long-term solutions for the traffic situation,” said Tiew, who is facing a five-cornered fight for the N50 state seat under the Kota Raja parliamentary constitution.
His rivals include the incumbent of Kota Alam Shah seat Ganabatirau Varaman from DAP, Abdul Razak Ismail from PSM, Burhan Adnan from PAS and Rajasekaran Soundarapandy, an Independent candidate.
Tiew said the traffic on Kesas Highway was the main cause of the jam in the morning, while the bottleneck at the three roundabouts was due to the congestion that arose after office hours.
Providing U-turns to traffic from both directions on Kesas before the Kota Kemuning toll plaza, he said, was the short-term solution.
“I will seek the cooperation of the management of Kesas Highway to create these U-turn to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic for Kemuning Utama residents.
“There is also a dire need for flyovers to be built above the roundabouts in order to permanently resolve the traffic congestion,” Tiew said, adding that alternative access routes were also necessary for smooth-flowing traffic within the township.
