PERHAPS the political climate has improved in this election, as political rivals are behaving in a civil and friendly way when stumbling upon each other on the campaign trail as happened in Gombak yesterday.
When PKR's Gombak Setia state seat candidate Muhammad Hilman Idham arrived at Taman Sri Gombak, the weather was nice and cool, thanks to a downpour in the afternoon.
Looking a tad tired, the 29-year-old was nonetheless upbeat as he warmly greeted voters at the night market.
His supporters, who had arrived a few minutes earlier, were manning a temporary booth for residents to check their voting stations, as well as handing out flyers.
Barisan's candidate for the seat Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin, 49, also did his walkabout around the same time, with his supporters distributing BN manifesto booklets and pins.
When the Gombak Umno deputy chief rossed paths with Hilman at the end of the market, he exchanged firm handshakes and friendly words with his rival.
They even posed for photographs together.
Also present to lend support to Hilman was special aide to caretaker Selangor MB Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong, formerly the MP for Wangsa Maju.
When asked what he thought the support level was like, Dr Tan said the sentiment among the residents towards Pakatan Harapan was very good.
