More automation at plantations

THE INSTITUTE of Malaysian Plantation and Commodities (Impac) will be allocated RM1mil annually to encourage the use of mechanisation and train local youths to work as machine operators in plantations.

Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong said, currently about 77% of the foreign workers in Malaysia are employed in the oil palm sector.
