Don’t hold your breath

Breathe (iOS)

Breathing is often taken for granted, which is why a lot of us become easily stressed and suffer from anxiety. All it takes is a few minutes of proper breathing techniques to help you relax.

This app works by sending “breathe” reminders and daily mindfulness quotes. It also allows you to customise your notifications based on what helps you relax.

All you need to do is set the time to receive the notifications, the frequency, and the content of the reminders.

I find the clean user interface a bonus, otherwise it would be counter-intuitive, in my opinion.

Those small reminders that the app sends such as “Hi, you are ok! Breathe” are very helpful to help you unwind.

Stop, Breathe & Think

Stop, Breathe & Think (iOS)

Much like the Breathe app, this one has more than 55 tailored meditations, and a customisable meditation timer with a choice of chimes and soundscapes.

The app helps you meditate at the start and end of your day, too. There is even a tracker for your emotions — both pre- and post-meditation.

There are two options for premium membership that will unlock premium content and features, including more than 45 meditation tracks, eight yoga and acupressure videos as well as six additional soundscapes and chimes for the Meditation Timer.

Personally, I find the premium membership pricey, but many people have found it extremely helpful.
