Nature guides should be trained


The ‘blue tears’ phenomenon at Pulau Sembilan. The island is closed to visitors as part of conservation efforts.

TOUR operators are calling on the government to only allow trained or licensed persons to guide visitors around nature spots to prevent the destruction of the state’s ecosystems.

Drawing on Pulau Sembilan as an example, Perak Tourist Guides Association chairman Roselyn Lim said the damage done to the state park could have been avoided if proper tour guides instead of locals with no training were allowed to lead the tourists.
