Beggars plague Ipoh streets

AS THE traffic light turned red at the junction of Jalan Raja Musa Aziz and Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, motorist Benny Chan was taken aback when he saw a double amputee emerging from the sidewalk and crawling to the middle of the road.

The man who looked to be in his 40s put on a particularly pitiful appearance when he started begging for money from cars.
