HOTEL Equatorial Penang’s Golden Phoenix is serving up a range of delectable pork-free dim sum with a modern fusion twist.
The menu features 34 steamed, deep-fried and baked items as well as desserts.
Meticulously crafted by dim sum chef Vincent Tan and his team, all the items boast delicate flavours and are stunningly presented.
While classic items have been refined, the new additions are equally mouth-watering.
Tan ensures that quality is high and ingredients are fresh.
Having learnt the ropes since the age of 15, he is proud to introduce his expertise and creativity to the hotel in bringing new delights to Golden Phoenix’s already famed dim sum menu.
Highly recommended are steamed crabmeat roll with egg crepe and edamame, chef’s signature steamed prawn dumpling with chilli oil, deep-fried scallop with kataifi prawn, and deep-fried beancurd roll with abalone sauce.
Other delights are steamed chive dumpling with chicken sausage, steamed mini abalone siew mai, pan-fried chicken bun, deep-fried turnip cake with chicken sausage, deep-fried prawn with mayonnaise, and steamed glutinous rice with egg crepe.
Other all-time favourites include steamed salted egg custard bun, steamed chicken feet with Guilin sauce, steamed chicken wing with plum sauce, steamed rice flour roll with BBQ chicken filling, and stuffed lotus root with fish paste.
Patrons can also enjoy pan-fried vegetarian dumpling, baked BBQ chicken puff and deep-fried taro puff with BBQ chicken.
Don’t miss out on Golden Phoenix’s signature egg tart which is perfect for the health-conscious.
Instead of butter and milk, Tan uses soya bean and olive oil. This makes for a light, smooth and silky tart that practically melts in your mouth.
Other tempting desserts are chilled mango pudding, sweetened honeydew with sago, deep-fried Chinese pancake with lotus paste, warm sweetened red bean soup, and warm sweetened peanut soup.
The delicious dim sum is served daily from 11.30am to 2.30pm on weekdays and from 8.30am to 2.30pm on weekends and public holidays.
