WITH a magnifying glass in his left hand, goldsmith Lee Bin Cheow, 39, carefully embellished a piece of jewellery with cubic zirconia with his other hand at his booth at the Artisan Market and Garage Sale at The Star Pitt St. in George Town, Penang.
His skill in adding details to his jewellery amazed visitors to the market.
“We can customise the design of the jewellery according to the preference of our customers.
“We have pendants, rings and earrings and all our products are 925 sterling silver jewellery coated with white gold,” Lee’s wife Woo Mei Choo, 40, said at the event on Saturday.
Also at the event was pharmacist Elsie Teoh, 27, who makes women’s accessories such as hair clips and pins in her spare time.
“My group of friends and I are pharmacists having the same passion for handicraft. We came together to form a group called After 5. We decided to collectively sell our products and share the profit,” Teoh said.
Also spotted were entrepreneur Ruth Yong and her grandson Ryan Kai Ern Singh, 15, who were selling paintings and dolls.
Yong, in her 60s, said she loved to paint and had been engaging in her passion for over 20 years.
“Most of my paintings are done using acrylic paints,” said Yong, who also paints on stones and stitches decorative dolls.
The Artisan Market and Garage Sale will be held at The Star Pitt St. on the first Saturday of the month until December. The next one will be from 11am to 5pm on Sept 2.
