SEVERAL public health and medical facilities will be coming up to serve the people of Penang better, said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.
He said among them was the RM486mil multi-storey block project which would house the cardiothoracic unit of Seberang Jaya Hospital, adding that construction was ongoing.
“Another project in the pipeline is the RM250mil Women and Children’s Hospital linked with Penang Hospital. The project is expected to begin soon.
“We are committed in providing the best healthcare for the people of Penang.
“Many upgrading works on public medical facilities have been planned and will be carried out as promised,” he told reporters after launching the International Medical Device Conference 2017 at Equatorial Hotel on Wednesday.
Dr Subramaniam said the ministry would construct a new block for Balik Pulau Hospital to house its emergency ward, Forensics Department and Pathology laboratory.
