THE amount of rubbish swept ashore at Gurney Drive in Penang by the tsunami in Dec 26, 2004, was so much that a general worker thought it would take ages to clean up the place.

Penang Island City Council (MBPP) general worker Mohanarji Paramal said the items included tonnes of small concrete slabs, stones, broken wood and bottles.
