THE state government wants the proceeds of tourism tax collected from hotels by the Customs Department to be channelled back to Selangor for the development of its tourism sector.
Selangor Tourism, Environment, Green Technology and Consumer Affairs committee chairman Elizabeth Wong said RM654mil was expected to be collected in a year from 29 hotels of four- and five-star ratings in the state.
