SIXTEEN vagabonds were rescued by the authorities in George Town from having to spend their nights sleeping on cardboards in the cold at public spots.
They were picked up at Komtar during an operation by the Penang Social Welfare Department which started at 11.15pm on Wednesday and ended at 1am yesterday.
