JOHOR BARU: In an effort to strengthen ties between the police and the community, some 150 officers and personnel from the state set off on a trip to Kampung Kudong, Bekok in Segamat.

The Kembara Bermotosikal Kapcai Back To Nature programme saw the police engaging with the orang asli community in a range of activities.

Johor police contingent special branch unit head Senior Asst Comm Ahmad Ramzan Daud said it was the first year the state police conducted a programme with the orang asli community.

“Some of the activities held included gotong-royong, cooking together with the people, futsal and karaoke, among others,” he said, adding that they also had a celebration in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

He added that besides a lucky draw, the orang asli were entertained with performances by the police.

“The aim was to make everyone feel wanted regardless of their status, religion and race.

“I believe that everyone plays an important role in the community,” he said.

He hoped the programme had a positive impact on the community and strengthen ties between them and the police.
