Stubbing out young smokers

Efforts are underway to prevent shopkeepers from selling cigarettes to customers aged below 18.

THE Perak Health Department’s move in carrying out surveillance to check on shops selling cigarettes to underage customers has received the thumbs up from parents.

The department will send undercover officers to the shops in view of the increasingly worrying trend of students below the age of 18 smoking outside of school, said its Inspectorate and Regulatory Unit chief Samad Mohd Dom.
