THE Penang Oil Painting Society is holding its 15th annual art exhibition, titled ‘15 passionate years... because of love and you’.
The exhibition on the third floor of the State Art Gallery in Dewan Sri Pinang, George Town, runs until May 25.
It will open daily from 9am to 5pm, except Fridays and public holidays.
It features 92 art pieces from 27 artists, who are members of the society.
Exhibition coordinator Quah Siew Kim said the art pieces were a testament to the society members’ love, passion, dedication and invaluable contribution to the art scene.
“We adhere to our vision, which is to create awareness about oil painting among the younger generation so that they will come to love and appreciate oil painting.
“Our mission is to also give oil painting artists opportunities to exchange ideas and to keep progressing,” said Quah, who read the speech on behalf of her husband, society founder and president Woo Seng Non.
Wong Hon Wai, who is Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s political secretary, said the annual exhibition had benefited the community and the art scene in Penang.
He said Penang provided an exciting and unique platform for arts, heritage and culture.
Also present was society advisor Datuk Dr Tan Chee Khuan.
