PUPILS of SJKC Taman Connaught 2 in Bandar Damai Perdana, Cheras, can now enjoy outdoor activities on land located next to their school.
Mahajaya Bhd general manager Poh Shaik Kiang said it had given the school approval to use 0.66ha out of a total land size of about 1.33ha located beside the school, as a field.
“The school currently does not have a field within its grounds,” Poh said during a press conference to announce this at the school.
SJKC Taman Connaught 2 board of directors chairman Roger Fuam said the area would be fenced up and a small portion would be converted into a carpark while the rest would be used as a field.
“We will use the allocation of RM100,000 given to us by the state government for this.
“We have not been given a time frame for the land use but have been assured nothing will happen for at least the next four years,” he said.
SJKC Taman Connaught 2 Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) chairman Joseph Koh Hong Leong said in the agreement, it was stated that the developer would give six-month notice to the school if it wanted to take back the land.
Meanwhile, Balakong assemblyman Eddie Ng said the state government had allocated an additional RM1mil to Chinese schools in Selangor, making it RM5mil annually.
“Three schools, SJKC Balakong, SJKC Batu 11, Cheras and SJKC Taman Connaught 2, will each be given RM100,000 this year by the state government,” he said.
