LRT and bus commuters stepping foot outside the Bandar Tasik Selatan LRT station have been overwhelmed by a foul smell, similar to that of rotten eggs
Taxi drivers waiting near the multi-storey building have also been left in misery trying to put up with the stench from foul-smelling water flowing out of a covered manhole nearby since April.
Supramaniam Doraisamy said he first noticed the odour early last month.
“Commuters alighting from the buses have been stepping into the puddles of sewerage unawares," the 62-year-old taxi driver said.
He added that he had alerted Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) and Prasarana to the issue, saying that IWK had visited the site on April 18, while Prasarana representatives were there on April 20.
"However, both parties said it was not their responsibility, so whose is it?," he asked
Another taxi driver who frequents the station, Rosli Ahmad, 59, said the issue had been going on for too long without any solution.
“I’ve also noticed mosquito larvae in the puddles but no one is taking care of the situation," he said.
An IWK representative said that its investigations showed the sewage treatment plant was privately maintained and, therefore, the responsibility was in the hands of the station's building maintenance team.
When contacted, Prasarana said it was still investigating the issue.
