WAWASAN Open University (WOU), the northern university of choice, provides quality and recognised full-time degrees at highly affordable fees targeted at school-leavers and diploma holders at its scenic campus-by-sea in Penang.
Being socially inclusive, WOU also beckons with attractive financial assistance and is offering RM10,650 in scholarships to all new students who enroll for full-time studies in the upcoming May intake.
Held in conjunction with WOU’s 10th anniversary, this special promotion includes monthly cost of living allowance for students during their three academic years at the campus.
“I was drawn to enrol in the Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme at WOU because of its affordable fees, which is comparatively lower than other private institutions in Penang.
“Also, I prefer to study in my hometown of Penang,” said student Tan Rong Kang who hails from Butterworth. He added that he hoped to start his own wholesale business supplying daily necessities to retail shops.
WOU’s seafront campus located in the heart of George Town, provides a tranquil environment with easy access to public transport and conveniently linked to the mainland via the ferry and bridges.
Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Management student Sheela Saravanan (pic), aged 20, from Bayan Lepas, learnt about WOU from a friend who is studying part-time here.
“The first thing I heard was that the campus is very conducive for learning and the lecturers are highly supportive, helping students throughout their assignments.
“And unlike other universities that conduct lessons in large lecture halls, the small-sized classes at WOU allows us to be more productive in class discussions while lecturers have more interactions with students,” she quipped on the advantages of studying at WOU.
Currently WOU is offering full-time degree programmes in the fields of Accounting, Management, Banking and Finance, Sales and Marketing, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and Computer Systems and Networks.
All the programmes are approved by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
WOU has been accorded with a Tier 5 or ‘Excellent’ rating by MOHE for the quality of its undergraduate teaching and learning in the 2013 and 2011 SETARA local university ranking exercise.
Its full-time students are taught by qualified and experienced lecturers, and supported by a wide range of learning resources such as student portal and digital library that connect students to an extensive network of materials and information.
Enrolment for the new intake is in progress. Interested students possessing a minimum of two Principals in STPM/A-Levels or at least five grade Bs in UEC Senior Middle III or Diploma/Foundation/Matriculation or equivalent qualifications are invited to apply.
