PERAK has increased the expanse of its permanent forests reserve as water catchment areas by almost double in just a matter of 10 years, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said.

In its quest to create an integrated ecosystem to ensure the state continues to have enough clean water supply, he said the state government had up to last June gazetted 295,401ha of permanent forests reserve as water catchment areas from 159,866ha in 2007.
