MORE than 40 years on, the nation has yet to achieve the 60:40 ratio of students studying science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to non-STEM students set by the Government in the early 1970s.

Noting that failure to achieve the set ratio, Perak Education Committee Chairman Datuk Dr Muhammad Amin Zakaria said there would not be enough manpower for the country to be a developed nation if the young generation continued to shy away from specialising in STEM subjects.
