Navy effort to to connect with local fishermen pays dividends

IF BEFORE they were wary or even afraid of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), local fishermen are now beginning to view the maritime force as an ally.

RMN Fleet Command Headquarters Assistant Chief of Staff (Operations) Captain Azman Rabani said the Rakan Maritim (Rakam) programme introduced slightly over a year ago has been able to positively change the local fishing community’s perception of the navy.
