Repair work on burst water pipe is 45% completed, Air Selangor unable to tell when supply would be restored

JALAN Kebun, Kampung Jawa and Taman Pinggiran USJ 1 to 3 residents are still experiencing dry taps due to the burst pipe behind the Carlsberg factory in Shah Alam.

The sudden water cut last night had left these residents high and dry.

T. Vijaya, a Taman Pinggiran USJ 3 resident, said they were now relying on the water from her home tank.

“I have put aside all my household chores, especially cooking and cleaning.  I just hope the supply will resumes before the tank run out of water," he said.

Dr Krishna Shanmugam, who runs a clinic in the area, said the situation had affected his clinic operations as they relied heavily on clean water supply.

“We have problems cleaning our dressing instruments after treating injured patients. We hope the water will resume soon."

Surprisingly, areas such as USJ did not experience any disruption as expected.

USJ was one of the locations listed by Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn. Bhd (Syabas) as affected areas.

A statement published on the Syabas Facebook page stated that about 45% of the repair work on the burst pipe.

Meanwhile, Syabas has also dispatched water tankers to critical areas including hospitals and dialysis centres while information counters have been set up for residents at Sek 27A MBSA hall, Jalan Sungai Gabis 27/71 and Section 27 Shah Alam.

Jumbo water tanks have also been set up at the Syabas information centre at Jalan USJ 4/5.

Public hydrants have been opened at Jalan USJ 3/1G, Jalan USJ 3A and Jalan TP 2, Taman Perindustrian Sime UEP.

Air Selangor Group corporate communications head Amin Lin Abdullah said water supply will be restored to all affected areas in stages when the repair works were completed.

However, Air Selangor was unable to determine the time taken to complete the repairs on the damaged pipe.

Current places affected by the water cut in Klang/Shah Alam are Section 21, Section 22, Section 25, Section 26, Section 27, Section 28, Kampung Kebun Bunga, Kampung Baru Hicom, Subang Mas 3rd Mile, Batu 3 Shah Alam, Bukit Kemuning, Bukit Naga, Kampung Lombong, Jalan Kebun, UEP & USJ Subang, Section 32, Section 33, Putra Heights, Kampung Bukit Lanchong, Kampung Jawa, Bandar Putera, Taman Sentosa, Taman Maznah, Taman Samarind, Taman Batu 3, Taman Desa Latania, Taman Desa Kemuning and Jalan Mohd Sidin.

In Petaling district, the areas are  USJ 1 to USJ 27, Pinggiran USJ 1 to Pinggiran USJ 3, TP 1 to TP 7 (Taman Perindustrian UEP), Subang Heights, USJ Heights and USJ 3A to USJ 3D.
