‘Much more needs to be done’

DESPITE significant improvements made over the last 10 years the health, education and welfare of children with special needs, an expert feels more needs to be done.

Malaysian Association for Adolescent Health Vice President Dr N. Thiyagar said there are several challenges for children with special needs that must be looked into. Dr Thiyagar, who is also the Malaysian Paediatric Association President said, despite the health sector showing improvement in relation to the needs of such children, they still lack specialised health-care providers.
