MALACCA: Hatten Group of Malacca is celebrating Christmas by bringing together the community with extended shopping hours, unique decorations, gifts for the underprivileged and family-themed activities.
Under it’s Hatten Cares programme, the group selected The Star Media Group’s Malacca Bureau as the venue to launch its corporate social responsibility (CSR) campaign for needy children.
Hatten’s management team led by the group’s Corporate Communication’s director Penny Ong Hwee Kiat said its “Christmas Bundle of Joy” campaign was in aid of four homes in Kuala Lumpur and Malacca.
The campaign, ending on Dec 31, aims to collect food and Christmas gifts for over 300 children from welfare homes.
Ong said giant gift boxes were placed at 12 locations including the lobbies of Dataran Pahlawan Mega Mall (DPMM), Hatten Hotel and Estadia Hotel as well as eight local media offices.
She said those wishing to fulfil the children’s Christmas wishes could drop their items into the boxes.
“The Star’s bureau office at Jalan Hang Tuah is one of the locations,” she said.
The items will be given to Hope Children Center, Pusat Jagaan Kasih Sayang Prasanna, and Salvatorian Home - all located in Malacca - as well as United Learning Centre for Myanmar Kids in Kuala Lumpur.
DPMM has also unveiled a 12.2m tall Christmas tree as well as a 10.7m illuminated reindeer.
“We are hoping to enter the Malaysia Book of Records for having the biggest reindeer for this year’s Christmas,” said Hatten Group’s senior director (leasing) Chan Lai Ling.
Chan added that apart from supporting the Hatten Cares programme, DPMM will also be having fun-filled activities during the festive season and would be extending its shopping hours.
