THE Children’s Protection Society (CPS) hopes to raise RM200,000 during its maiden charity food fair and bazaar on July 31.
It vice-president Magdeline Leong said about 2,000 people were expected at the fair featuring between 60 and 75 stalls.
The fair will be held from 9am to 2pm at the Methodist Boys’ School (MBS) in Penang.
“The funds raised will benefit the children for their education and building funds.
“Besides spending on their tuition, the education fund would also be used for the older children to pursue higher qualifications after their PMR or SPM in both academic as well as vocational fields.
“We work with more than 150 children and their families each year, relying almost entirely on donations.
“We decided to hold the fair this year in conjunction with our 25th anniversary,” she said at a press conference held at the home in Scotland Road, Penang, recently.
Leong said the stalls would feature local food, art and craft, fresh food, potted plants and herbs, a White Elephant jumble sale products, and many more.
“Among the activities are a lion dance performance and orchestra by MBS students, a mini concert by Convent Green Lane students, a massage therapy by the St Nicholas Home, and a handwriting and colouring competition,” she said.
Coupon booklets worth RM50 can be purchased at CPS in Jalan Scotland or on the day of the fair at MBS.
Those who wish to donate towards the food fair can issue cheques made payable to ‘Children’s Protection Society Penang’ or bank in to CPS’s CIMB account (a/c number: 8004049799) under Pertubuhan Perlindungan Kanak-Kanak Pulau Pinang. Donations will get tax exempt receipts.
