Penang Botanic Gardens to chop down 129-year-old rain tree

THE majestic rain tree that has greeted visitors of Penang Botanic Gardens for over a century is about to become history.

Once standing at 18.5m tall with a crown 24.4m wide, the 129-year-old tree has died and gardeners have begun cutting it down.
