S’wak to help Taiping set up new bird haven


KUCHING: The Natural Resources and Environment Ministry is assisting the Perak government to study the establishment of a bird sanctuary about 50km northwest of Taiping town in that state.

Its minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the area, located in the vicinity of a fishing village at the Kuala Gula mangrove forest, had the potential to be developed as a bird sanctuary.
