StarMetro's report yesterday.
RESTAURANT grease is the main contributor to why sewer pipes overflow, and the main culprits are 24-hour restaurants, said Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd (IWK).
“Oil and grease cause manholes in commercial areas to overflow, and this is largely because of poorly maintained grease traps in restaurants, food courts and malls, which allow oil and grease to flow into the sewer pipes via drains and storm drains, causing gunk to build up along the walls and ultimately block the flow of water.”
