Dept hopes Esscom will help stop turtle egg smuggling


KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Wildlife Department hopes that security forces under the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) would help them curb smuggling of turtle eggs into the state.

Department director William Baya said smuggling of turtle eggs from neighbouring countries to Sabah not only taints turtle conservation efforts, it would also stop tourists from returning.
