Leonard Nimoy, ‘Star Trek’s Mr Spock, dies at 83; reactions from former castmates


Leonard Nimoy, who won fame and fans with his portrayal of the logic-bound Vulcan Mr Spock in Star Trek, died on Friday Feb 27. He was 83. Nimoy, who had battled chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), died in the morning at his home in Los Angeles’ Bel Air section.

“We return you now to the stars, Leonard,” fellow Star Trek cast member George Takei, who played Hikaru Sulu, wrote on Facebook. “You taught us to ‘Live long and prosper,’ and you indeed did, friend,” Takei said, recalling the trademark phrase uttered by Spock.
