Facebook users can now look up restaurant menus on pages

In a bid to rival search giant Google, Facebook has announced a new feature that will allow users to look up restaurant menus on the pages they’ve liked.

It’s a move that follows on the heels of Google, which launched a search option in the US earlier this year that leads users directly to a restaurant’s menu. The search engine sources menu information from a third-party provider.

As more and more restaurateurs recognize the importance of having a Facebook presence, the social networking site has launched a new feature that will allow eateries to post their full menu in a new tab next to the “photos”and “likes” buttons.

“When looking for a great meal, people often turn to Facebook to find a restaurant’s location, hours of operation and menu,” reads a Facebook blog post announcement.

“That’s why, beginning today, we’re making it easier for restaurants worldwide to display one of their most important assets directly on their Facebook Page – their menus.”

Restaurateurs in the US and Canada can upload their menus using business listing platform SinglePlatform. Menus can also be added as a PDF attachment.
