Taco Bell is on fire with a new ad campaign that gathered all the Ronald McDonalds it could find, fed them the chain’s new breakfast menu items, and then got the real McCoys to admit they’re, well, “loving it”.
It’s an offensive but cheeky marketing strategy that’s just sassy enough to get the web talking and generate a few LOLs.
“To show you just how much people are loving Taco Bell’s all new breakfast, we asked some very special people,” starts the TV commercial that began airing across the US last week.
Enter a parade of honest to goodness Ronald McDonald’s from across the US who happen to share the name of McDonald’s longtime mascot, including a father and son duo from Dubuque, Iowa: Ronald McDonald Jr. and Ronald McDonald III.
Since being uploaded on YouTube March 26, the video has attracted more than 1.3 million views.
The chain’s new breakfast menu includes waffle tacos, a breakfast version of its Crunchwrap and steak and egg burritos.
For their part, McDonald’s has launched a promotion that will give away a free coffee every day for two weeks between March 31 and April 13, a move also seen as a way to attract more morning traffic. – AFP Relaxnews
