Two weeks before premiering on BBC One in Britain, The Casual Vacancy miniseries makes its debut in a 40-second trailer.
Adapted from the novel by J.K. Rowling, The Casual Vacancy is set in the fictional town of Pagford, a seemingly idyllic place in the south of England. But the death of a parish council member and the elections to replace him create an atmosphere of paranoia.
Years of hatred and lies resurface, bringing deeply buried secrets out into the open.
The miniseries stars Michael Gambon (below), an actor well known to Rowling’s fans thanks to his role as Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies.
Rory Kinnear, Julia McKenzie, Keeley Hawes, Simon McBurney, Richard Glover and Marie Critchley also feature in the three episodes.
The Casual Vacancy premieres Feb 15 on BBC One and will air soon thereafter on HBO, which co-developed the miniseries. — AFP Relaxnews
