Alicia (Julianna Margulies) is joining a new firm in the new season of 'The Good Wife'.

We check out how the new seasons of two popular shows have fared so far, and whether or not a new series is worth watching.

The Good Wife

By the end of Season Four of The Good Wife, a storm was brewing in the offices of Lockhart & Gardner with the fourth-year associates, including Alicia, planning to leave and start their own firm.

In Season Five, the storm erupts and naturally, there are casualties. Many, many casualties.

If, like me, you felt that the previous season lacked direction and punch, take heart that the new season is, for the most part, intense.

Even the soundtrack – including the title track from Bruce Springsteen’s new album High Hopes – signals a stronger, more gripping season! — S. Indramalar

>The Good Wife Season Five airs every Friday at 8pm on Diva (Astro Ch 702).

Oh My English!

The latest season of Oh My English sees Henry Middleton (Zain Saidin) imparting wit and wisdom on his students at SMK Ayer Merah.

English teacher Henry Middleton (Zain Saidin, pic) has more quirky antics to deal with in the latest season ofOh My English!

When Henry introduces pretty new student Putri Natasha (Amyra Rosli) to the class, he tells the boys to pick their jaws up from the floor. Clueless Jibam (Akhmal Nazri) thinks there are sharks around him. Jaws, get it? Fret not, as the ever-patient Henry explains what the idiom means. But the fun doesn’t stop there.

Later, Henry meets Natasha’s overprotective father Bujang (a hilarious Rashidi Ishak). This man is so frightful that he comes with his own roaring animal soundtrack. Bujang wants Henry to fill in a form to prove that he is qualified to educate Natasha.

A confused Henry asks “I beg your pardon?” and Bujang replies “No need to beg, I pardon you.”

Oh my English, indeed. Oh My English! returns this season with more learning and fun for viewers. Plus, it sure feels more rewarding to learn with the colourful students of 4 Merah and the long-suffering Henry. — Angelin Yeoh

> Catch Oh My English! S3 on Sundays at 9.30pm on TVIQ (Astro Ch 610) and Maya HD (Astro Ch 135).

First love: Ten years ago, these two met as children after Emery (Aimee Teegarden) finds Roman taking shelter in her family's shed in Star-Crossed.

The show actually isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. OK, so the premise isn’t exactly original - alien boy falls in love with human girl and they navigate through this weird world where man and alien are learning to co-exist – but there’s a balanced mix of sci-fi action and romance.

The sci-fi bit is pretty extensive and honestly, quite intriguing. Viewers get to know what Atrians (the alien race) are like (apparently they’re allergic to caffeine) and what they can do (some have healing powers).

The chemistry between the leading couple Roman (Matt Lanter) and Emery (Aimee Teegarden) is palpable, enough to warrant fans to coin the term “Romery” besides creating tons of fan-made videos on YouTube set to sickly-sweet love ballads.

Above all, it’s interesting to see what the world would be like if aliens and humans do exist together.

Star-Crossed didn’t get renewed for a second season, unfortunately living up to its name. — Kenneth Chaw

> Star-Crossed airs every Tuesday at 9.55pm on RTL CBS Entertainment HD (HyppTV Ch 616).
