Now that most of the major domestic football league seasons are over, it’s time to get ready for the greatest show on Earth!
As the official broadcaster of the 2014 Fifa World Cup Brazil (which kicks off June 12), Astro will be offering Malaysians the most comprehensive and complete coverage of the highly anticipated sporting event.
According to Astro head of sports Lee Choong Khay, Astro has been striving to bring the most comprehensive
coverage of the Fifa World Cup to Malaysians since the 1998
“Team Astro has been busy preparing new and exciting talk shows, news channel and programmes over 10 dedicated channels, easily accessible via the interactive Red Button on Astro remote,” he said.
Astro SuperPack customers as of May 31 will be offered a complimentary “Football Pass” to watch all, yes, ALL 64 live matches on five dedicated High Definition (HD) channels and five dedicated Standard Definition (SD) channels on Astro TV and Astro On The Go.
Football Pass holders can watch all the matches on tablets, smartphones and PCs via the Astro Go 2014 Fifa World Cup App, a first for the broadcaster.
This experience is enhanced with six live multi-cam, multi-angle feeds that can fully capture the excitement of matches, as well an option to replay your favourite moments with the tap of a finger.
You will also get about 100 hours of Fifa World Cup On Demand content, featuring classic Fifa World Cup matches since 1966, 10 matches from the 2010 Fifa World Cup in 3D and official World Cup programmes from Fifa.
According to Lee, there are also options for non-subscribers or Astro Njoi customers to join in the excitement of the 2014 Fifa World Cup via Astro On The Go.
These options include purchasing the Football Pass for only RM100 to watch all 64 matches on their preferred devices; or watching selected matches on a pay per view basis at RM6 per match.
“We at Astro truly want all Malaysians to be part of the excitement of the Fifa World Cup. Astro and Njoi customers without the Football Pass will still be able to watch 30 live matches on Astro Arena with match commentary in Bahasa Malaysia,” he said.
Astro has also prepared tons of content, activities, and games on their designated “home ground” for the World Cup – which is the Stadium Astro website (www.stadiumastro.com).
