The home-grown singer impressed Los Angeles producer and DJ R1ckone while performing in the city.
Jaclyn Victor was only in Hollywood for a week, but that was enough time for her to impress music producer and DJ Rick Dixon, and gain her an oppurtunity to collaborate with the former Black Eyed Peas producer.
The former Malaysian Idol winner had arrived at Los Angeles, California, on July 6 to kickstart a week-long tour – an initiative by her label, KRU Music, to introduce the powerhouse vocalist to the overseas market.
She performed for the first time at Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, which gave LA-based musicians a chance to to get to know her music.
According to a press statement by KRU Music, “Jaclyn displayed her powerful vocals and gave an energetic performance, singing five new songs from her upcoming EP, Unleashed, plus her rendition of Rolling In The Deep and If I Ain’t Got You,
“After the performance, she was offered an opportunity to record a song with Rick Dixon, or better known as R1ckone, who has worked with popular hip hop group The Black Eyed Peas.”
The 35-year-old singer went into recording with the DJ soon after that.
Besides the live performance, Jaclyn was also interviewed by a number of radio and TV stations, including making and appearence on Kababayan Today, a daily talk show catering to the Filipino American community.
Jaclyn’s newest single, the R&B and EDM-influenced Remedy, composed and written by KRU’s Edry and Yusry Abdul Halim respectively, has been released on 80 digital platforms while her five-track English EP will be available in September.
Unleashed – which includes tracks Pinnacle, Sweeter Than A Dream, Over And Over and Delirious besides Remedy – was fully recorded in Kuala Lumpur, and then mixed and mastered in Los Angeles.
