The singer-songwriter extraordinaire says he is retiring.
On July 15, on stage at the Festival de Carcassonne in France, Elton John announced the end of his career. The British artiste surprised the audience during the third song of the show, Candle In The Wind, by announcing his plans to retire and spend more time with his family.
“No more shows, no more music, no more songs,” John declared on stage, according to the French regional newspaper L’Independant.
The 67-year-old artiste, who has sold nearly 250 million albums worldwide during his career of over 40 years, is scheduled to play several concerts across Europe before the end of 2014. This is not the first time the performer has made statements regarding his possible retirement, and for the time being there is no indication on whether he will actually cancel upcoming shows.
