The indie act, known for its breakout treadmill video, is out with a new effort: The optical illusion-themed video for The Writing’s On The Wall.
Chicago-based OK Go rose to fame with the video forHere It Goes Again and its synchronised treadmill routine. Other videos by the band include This Too Shall Pass with its Rube Goldberg maze and All Is Not Lost with dance troupe Pilobolus.
The 2012 video for Needing/Getting features 1,000 handmade instruments, 55 pianos, countless guitars and a silver Chevy Sonic and was featured in Chevy’s Super Bowl commercial that year.
The newest addition to the band’s impressive video library is The Writing’s On The Wall, which was premiered by Rolling Stone and, the magazine reports, took three weeks to assemble and 50 takes to finalise.
The video features geometric paintings by artists including Felice Varini and Dan Tobin Smith, giving them a sense of movement through a variety of elaborate set pieces and the participation of the band members.
The Writing’s On The Wall will be included on the October LP Hungry Ghosts, the band’s first studio album in four years. Pre-order it at pledgemusic.com/projects/okgo. — AFP Relaxnews
