Excited: Datuk Siti Nurhaliza hopes to raise over RM1mil for charity through her concert.
Datuk Siti Nurhaliza gives back to society with a two-night charity concert.
DATUK Siti Nurhaliza felt a tug on her heart when she witnessed the suffering of flood victims in Kuantan, Pahang last December.
“A man had a stroke and was bedridden. When his house was hit by the flood, he and his family had nowhere to go and had to seek refuge in a multipurpose hall. I saw their pain and suffering. It’s not just about donating money, but being there for them and giving our support. That really brings them joy,” said Siti, 35, who gave away some 700 bags of essentials like canned food and rice.
Come February, Siti will be lending a hand yet again by doing what she does best – singing.
The well-loved pop singer hopes the Datuk Siti Nurhaliza Live In KLCC – Where The Heart Is two-night charity concert will earn more than RM1mil in sales and sponsorship, she said in a press conference recently.
Sponsored by Siti Nurhaliza Production and SimplySiti Sdn Bhd, all proceeds from the event will go to Yayasan Nurjiwa, a charity organisation that provides aid to the underprivileged, victims of natural disaster and children with special needs, among others.
“This concert will be more intimate than before as I am opening up the floor to the audience to ask questions in between songs.
“Also, for the first time, I will be introducing white as the concert’s theme colour to symbolise purity. This will be reflected in the stage design, my wardrobe and overall atmosphere,” she said, adding that she also encourages concert-goers to come dressed in white.
The singer shared that the 90-minute mini orchestra concert will be joined by popular musician and songwriter Aubrey Suwito. As many as 14 songs will be performed, including some of her popular hits, tracks from her 2011 English album All Your Love, as well as covers of evergreen numbers.
Meanwhile, at the press conference, Siti unveiled her big plans for the year. “I will be stepping into the studio some time this month with Aubrey to record my new album.
“So far, I have chosen half of the songs for the album, written by both local and international songwriters such as Adi Sixth Sense, Awi Rafael and Melly Goeslaw,” she revealed. The upcoming project will be her 16th studio album.
On top of that, Siti hopes to improve on her entrepreneurial skills this year, sharing, “I want to become a respected businesswoman with my own empire, and maybe even have SimplySiti (her cosmetics line) listed on the stock exchange.”
> The charity concert will be held at Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Feb 7 and 8. Tickets, priced at RM800, RM518, RM238, RM118, RM88, are available online at www.redtix.airasia.com. For corporate purchases, call 03-2163 8383.
