The DJ makes his directorial debut in the horror-thriller Mall.
Joe Hahn can add feature film director to his resume, as Paragon Pictures has acquired the North American rights to his film, Mall. Hahn is best known as the DJ and music sampler for Linkin Park.
The movie, which examines five strangers whose paths cross inside a mall, including a lonely housewife, a peeping tom, a drug-addled teenager, a Haitian security guard and an armed psychopath, is set to be released in the fall after Hahn returns from Linkin Park’s summer Carnivores Tour.
Vincent D’Onofrio, of Law and Order: Criminal Intent fame, helped produce and adapt the script from Eric Bogosian’s 2001 novel of the same name with Joe Vinciguerra and Sam Bisbee.
He also stars in the film, along with Cameron Managhan, Gina Gershon, Peter Stormare, and James Frecheville.
This isn’t Hahn’s first time directing, as he was the creative mastermind behind dozens of Linkin Park’s music videos, but Mall marks his first effort with a feature film. In addition to Hahn’s directorial input, the soundtrack will also consist of music by Hahn, Chester Bennington, Phoenix and Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park, with Alec Puro. — Reuters
